Ingredients

(6 servings)

Burger Beef

2 lbs lean ground beef (90–93% lean)

2 tbsp yellow mustard

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp smoked paprika

1 tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

Caramelized Onions

3 large yellow onions, thinly sliced

1 tbsp olive oil

½ tsp salt

Burger Bowl Base

2 heads romaine lettuce, chopped

2 cups shredded iceberg lettuce (for that In-N-Out crunch)

2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved

1 cup dill pickle slices, chopped

1 cup reduced-fat shredded cheddar (optional)

1–2 avocados, diced (optional healthy fat)

Healthy Animal-Style Sauce

¾ cup plain Greek yogurt (instead of mayo)

¼ cup ketchup

2 tbsp sweet pickle relish

1 tbsp yellow mustard

1 tsp white vinegar

½ tsp paprika

¼ tsp garlic powder

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Caramelize the Onions

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-low heat.

Add onions and salt.

Cook 25–30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until deeply golden and sweet.

Remove from pan and set aside.

2. Cook the Burger Meat

Increase heat to medium-high. Add ground beef, breaking it into crumbles.

Season with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

When about half cooked, drizzle in mustard and stir (this gives that animal-style flavor).

Cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.

3. Make the sauce

In a bowl, whisk together: Greek yogurt, ketchup, relish, mustard, vinegar, paprika, & garlic powder. Taste and adjust salt if needed.

4. Assemble bowls

Divide among 6 bowls:

Lettuce mix base -> Scoop of cooked beef -> Spoonful of caramelized onions -> Tomatoes + pickles -> Optional cheddar + avocado -> Drizzle animal-style sauce
